A Liverpool road has been forced to close after a police incident. Arriva said its 61 service had to divert following the closure of Almond’s Green in West Derby.
Writing on X, a spokesperson said: “Due to a police incident at Almonds Green service 61 will divert via Muirhead Avenue, Queens Drive, Mill Lane & Barnfield Drive towards Aigburth. Services towards Bootle are currently as normal.”
When contacted, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said a crash had caused the closure of the road. They said: “We were called to the junction of Muirhead Avenue East and Almonds Green at around 3.55pm to reports of a collision involving a Nissan Note and a Ford Transit van.
“The driver of the Nissan is being assessed and the junction is partially blocked. Both vehicles stopped at the scene.
“Please avoid the area as we deal with the incident. Any information can be sent to @MerPolCC or 101 with reference 568.”
Traffic monitor Inrix said: “Almonds Green Eastbound blocked, slow traffic due to police incident from Muirhead Avenue East to Hornspit Lane.”
