A local authority is calling on residents to help improve air quality and reduce pollution.

Guildford Borough Council says Cleaner Air Day is a “chance for residents to learn about how they can tackle air pollution”.

It is encouraging motorists in the Surrey town to choose alternative travel such as walking, cycling or public transport instead of using their car for the day.

Merel Rehorst-Smith, lead councillor for regulatory services, said the scheme is a “great opportunity for residents to discover practical ways to reduce pollution and protect our environment”.
