One of the world’s biggest bands sent shockwaves through the city’s music fans when they announced a show for Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium. On Monday, My Chemical Romance confirmed three new dates for the Black Parade 2026 tour, marking the first of the local summer shows.

Last week, fans speculated Anfield could be a stop on the tour after signs with the band’s logo were on the advertising hoardings during the Merseyside Derby. Guitarist Frank Iero also shared an image of himself on Instagram wearing a Liverpool shirt on his social media channels as he said: “All eyez on the pitch tomorrow, Let’s go Reds!”

The next day, Anfield confirmed My Chemical Romance as the first artist to be a part of its summer 2026 concert series. Huge stars such as Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Dua Lipa have been among the acts to have played shows in L4 over recent years.

The alternative rock band, renowned for songs such as ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise),’ ‘Teenagers’ and ‘The Black Parade’, also announced a show in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park, adding to the the already sold out London Wembley run.

The news sent former goths and emo kids spiralling, with hundreds of comments flooding social media with excitement. One fan said: “Best announcement ever.”
