Amanda Holden has opened up about the “weird” thing she does with her husband Chris Hughes that gives her “such a thrill”. Back on Heart Radio’s Breakfast Show on Monday, the 54-year-old and her co-star Jamie Theakston asked listeners to send in the “weird family rules” they had in their household .

More specifically, Jamie said he wanted to hear stories about the “kind of thing that, at the time, seemed perfectly normal to you, but it’s only later when you look back on it and you think, ‘Well that was odd’.”

Sharing one of her core relatable memories, Amanda said while it wasn’t a rule as such, she and her sister used to love being chased up the stairs by their father.

Wanting to follow tradition, the presenter admits she now does the same thing with her husband.

“I still to this day… my dad used to chase me and my sister up the stairs,” she shared.

“We used to absolutely love it, and then I make Chris, my husband, do the same thing because it scares me so much, but I can’t stop laughing.

“And, you know, it’s like such a thrill because you don’t want to get caught because you’ll get tickled. But I still run and he goes, ‘I’m coming’- I used to love that.”

On the same topic of conversation, she said her spouse and their children also jokingly pretend to be asleep when she comes into the house.

The couple have been married for over 15 years, and they share two daughters; Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13.

It’s not the first time Amanda has given fans an insight into her family life while live on the airwaves.

Back in January, she jokingly urged listeners not to worry about her after revealing that Chris locked her in the garage at times.

During a discussion about darts champion Luke Littler, Amanda said she and her husband often played the sport in their home garage.

In order to get better at the game however, she said he locks her in their garage until she scores the perfect 180.

She shared: “If I can’t find Chris, he’s in the garage on the dartboard. I’ve told the nation before, please don’t worry for my safety, but Chris locks me in the garage until I score a 180. He won’t let me out.”

Seemingly surprised by her admission, Jamie replied: “That’s sort of quite cruel, isn’t it?”

Explaining the positives, she continued: “Hmm, the garage is quite nice. I tell you what I did, I was in there for so long the other night I actually did a bit of a clear-out of the garage.

“After it was his turn, I started re-boxing and reorganising.”

Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Amanda airs weekdays from 6.30am.
