A man from Birmingham has been charged with dealing Class A drugs after a ‘suspicious car’ was spotted in a Staffordshire town.

Officers from Staffordshire Police’s major and organised crime proactive team saw the vehicle in Burton-on-Trent last Wednesday (September 24).

Crack cocaine and heroin were discovered following a search, along with £580 in cash.

Hamza Shazad, 18, of Sparkbrook in Birmingham, has now been charged dealing crack and heroin, possessing criminal property and causing criminal damage.

Shazad appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre last Friday (September 26).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “A man has been charged with drug supply offences after we found crack cocaine and heroin in Burton-on-Trent.

“Hamza Shazad, 18, of Birmingham, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin, possession of criminal property and criminal damage to a property valued under £5,000.

“It comes after officers from our major and organised crime proactive team spotted a suspicious car in the area on Wednesday (September 24).

“The drugs were found following a search, along with £580 in cash.

“Shazad appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday (26 September) and has been remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on 24 October.”

The police spokesperson added: “We’re working proactively to act against those responsible for high harm offences and organised crime in local communities across Staffordshire.

“Between July 2024 and July this year, we have arrested more than 400 people linked to these offences, and more will be coming as we continue to act against those involved.”
