When you’re on holiday, where you stay is just as important as the destination.

And while hotels or B&Bs can be viable options, sometimes it’s exciting to go for something a little bit different. Six holiday sites in Wales have been shortlisted as some of the best places to stay in the Sykes Gems 2025 Awards by Sykes Holiday Cottages.

The Welsh properties shortlisted include one in Ceredigion, two on Anglesey, two in Powys and one in Denbighshire. While they all offer something different, these properties have been celebrated for their brilliance.

Creuddyn

Within the peaceful and tranquil Ceredigion countryside, you’ll find Creuddyn -a cwtchy holiday pod that comes with an enclosed garden, a hot tub, a studio-style layout and a double bedroom.

As indicated in the name, a lot of love has been put into creating this unique accommodation. The single-storey stay comes with a studio-style layout, a king-size bed, kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

It has electric central heating for the colder months and enclosed decking with furniture, hot tub and even an infrared sauna for the warmer, drier months.

Dol Blodau is a delightful lodge in the heart of the Welsh countryside, just a short distance from Newbridge on Wye. Inside, there are two large bedrooms and an open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting area. You can also soak in a private hot tub, spacious enough for all four guests. If enjoying uninterrupted sea views within the comforts of a cottage sounds like your cup of tea, then Balog Farm is the place to stay. This accommodation is a beautifully presented abode that rests in an elevated position in Llaneilian, Ynys Mon. It comes with wooden beams and high ceilings, complemented with contemporary interiors in greys and blues.

It is a three-bedroom cottage ideal for families or friends who want to explore this corner of north Wales. Amlwch is only a stone’s throw away where you can discover the copper mining tradition of the area on the Heritage Copper Trail or visit the Old Mine Works at Mynydd Parys. If a day at the beach is more your thing, then Traeth Lligwy is a 13-minute drive away, where you can also embark on the coastal path that could take you to Moelfre.
