During the latest instalment of Good Morning Britain, Sean Fletcher delivered some breaking news to ITV audiences on Tuesday’s programme.

Following discussions between hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, who recently stood up for one celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing, with correspondent Louisa James reporting from the Labour Conference in Liverpool, the pair passed over to Sean.

Susanna remarked: “I have a feeling that Sean does not have good news as the Labour Party Prime Minister prepares his speech this afternoon.”

He responded: “Yeah, good morning, breaking news to start with, in the last few minutes, the Office for National Statistics has released the latest official figures, and it’s not good news for the chancellor, who had promised to make growing the economy her main target.

“The latest GDP growth figures confirm that the country’s economy is instead slowing down, with the rate of growth easing from 0.7% to only 0.3% from April to June.”

This development arrives before Sir Keir Starmer’s address this afternoon at the conference, where he is anticipated to announce a new NHS Online service, reports Wales Online.

During his speech, the Prime Minister is expected to inform MPs and party supporters that by 2027, an App featuring hospital specialists will enable people to arrange video consultations.

Nevertheless, some individuals have raised concerns about the newly proposed system, as Susanna emphasised during the programme.

Informing viewers that Health Secretary Wes Streeting would appear on the programme later, she disclosed that two primary concerns had emerged from public feedback regarding the video consultation proposals.

She explained: “Firstly, how do you see a hospital consultant online if you don’t have access to online? So, particularly for elderly patients.

“I mean, how much is this all going to cost, and how will it speed things up? How long will we have to wait to see a hospital consultant online?

“When you see them, how do they diagnose your particular problem when you’re just online? Don’t you need to see someone face-to-face?”

It didn’t take long for users on X to voice their opinions about the suggested video consultations, with many expressing dissatisfaction.

One individual remarked: “How can a doctor examine you by video? If they can make time to video call you they can make time to see you in person.”

Another posted: “Not all citizens have equal access to technology or digital literacy, raising concerns about digital exclusion..”

Meanwhile, someone else added: “More of the elderly left out then..”

Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITVX.
