Scuderia Ferrari F1 1

An F1 aficionado from Kendall has been revealed as the winner of Spar Bowness’ Scuderia Ferrari merchandise competition.

Simon Rigg (below left) is an avid F1 fan and was one of hundreds of motorsport enthusiasts who flocked to Spar Bowness to see Charles Leclerc’s 2021 racing machine on the forecourt.

The car, in Scuderia Ferrari’s 2025 livery, was on display in August, courtesy of Spar’s relationship with Shell, and the weekend was part of Spar Bowness’ Summer of Fun, celebrating the store’s first anniversary.

Simon won a Scuderia Ferrari F1 T-shirt, cap, umbrella and water bottle, and was delighted to collect his goodies from store team member, Sharon Morton.

Simon said: “I’m a huge motorsport fan, and I’m thrilled to have won. It was fantastic to see the Ferrari up close for free at Spar Bowness over the summer as these opportunities.

“While I’ve a soft spot for McLaren, I am a big Ferrari fan, and these cars are works of art as well as racing cars. My dad went to the first British Grand Prix held at Silverstone, and my parents used to go to the Monaco Grand Prix every year for many years. That started in 1968, the year I was born, so I’ve gone through life with F1 and motorsport as being a part of it.”
