CAUGHT LIVE: LADY GAGA, The O2, London ****
PAWS UP Little Monsters, your Mistress of Mayhem is rolling fans over and rubbing bellies with her most bewilderingly brilliant and satisfyingly treat yet.
The Mayhem wasn’t reserved for the stage, as this four act Gaga show is immersive on all fronts, plonking audiences into the heart of Alice in Wonderland pimped opera house crawling with fabulous characters, sound and vision.
Playing the role of duelling twins (and a whole lot more), Gaga hovered onto the stage as the Queen of Hearts aloft a giant 18 foot frock for Bloody Mary and then pumped the crowd with supreme energy for an epic Medieval Abracadabra.

A relentless barrage of anthems ensued with impeccable vocals throughout, as both dark and light incarnations of Gaga out-did one another during set pieces involving a graveyard dance and a gondola ride gliding through the arena’s catwalk.
Halloween came early during disco-tastic act three as Zombieboy and The Dead Dance – featuring WEDNESDAY stars Emma Myers and Evie Templeton – realised her twisted Thriller fantasises with a troupe of dancers contorting to classic Gaga choreo, claws raised high.
She barely came up for air, but did pause for a moment of gratitude telling Londoners: “my first show was in the UK thanks for believing in me”. And when she did strip free of the theatrical gubbins for a piano rendering of Die With a Smile it was a timely reminder of the raw talent Stefani Germanotta possesses.

This Mayhem Ball feels like the culmination of everything Gaga represents, fiercely celebrating identity, survival, celebrity and acceptance before eventually concluding that there’s plenty of love for herself and all her little monsters – born whatever way.
