Mozambican businessman Salimo Abdula, through the Salimo Abdula Foundation, has signed a memorandum of understanding with FieldReady to provide training and support for 15,000 young people in the country. The partnership seeks to tackle youth unemployment by equipping participants with entrepreneurial skills and creating opportunities to establish businesses.

Latest agreement backs young Mozambican entrepreneurs

The agreement builds on the Elevate Program, an initiative that combines training, mentorship, and innovation to help young people shift from job seekers to job creators. Participants will receive digital entrepreneurship training and take part in challenges designed to connect business ideas with investors, companies, and incubators.

A new digital platform for entrepreneurship training will be rolled out nationwide, making it accessible to thousands of young Mozambicans. Alongside the platform the program will run a competitive challenge to identify and support the most promising youth-led projects.

Selected entrepreneurs will receive mentoring, incubation, and, for the top five projects, seed capital to launch their ventures. For Abdula, this is an investment in the country’s future workforce. By combining training with access to real opportunities, the move will give young people a foothold in a difficult labor market while also contributing to the broader economy.

Abdula’s Intelec and Vodacom influence

Widely regarded as one of Mozambique’s most influential business leaders, Abdula is the founder of Intelec Holdings Group, a conglomerate with interests in agriculture, energy, finance, construction, mining, telecommunications, and textiles. He is also one of the largest shareholders in Vodacom Mozambique where he serves on the board.

The initiative highlights Abdula’s efforts to position his foundation as a link between young talent and the industries driving Mozambique’s growth. By connecting youth-led innovation with sectors such as energy and natural gas Abdula hopes the next generation of entrepreneurs can play a direct role in shaping the country’s economic development.
