Amid those releases, Garmin also issued Beta Version 17.06 for existing models. As we covered at the time, that update was designed to fix an issue where a strobe flashlight effect would remain active after an activity ends. Now, Garmin has moved Instinct 2 series development onto System Software 17.07, which the company claims has been offered to around 20% of smartwatches so far.
If your smartwatch has not received a notification to download System Software 17.06, then you can manually trigger it by tapping Main menu, Settings, System, Software Update and then Check For Updates on your Instinct 2 or Instinct Crossover smartwatch. According to the accompanying forum post, System Software 17.07 only fixes DogTrack distance issues when using Metric units. However, we suspect that the flashlight fix has been silently rolled into Garmin’s new update, too.
