DORSET’S Eddie Jack and the New Forest’s Ben Mayes have received England call ups for upcoming tours.

Bowler Jack will head to Australia with the England Lions, while batter Mayes will travel to the West Indies with the U19s.

Jack will be a part of Andrew Flintoff’s squad that heads down under alongside the senior Ashes squad.

It is not his first time in a Lions squad, having featured against India A this summer, and claiming the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, KL Rahul, and Dhruv Jurel.

Broadstone’s Jack has starred in the One Day Cup for Hampshire this season, ending as the county’s second-highest wicket taker with 13, with 26 across the three formats.

The Lions will play matches in Perth, Canberra and Brisbane, facing the senior side in a warmup game ahead of the first Ashes test, before a four-day match against a Cricket Australia XI at Lilac Hill.

They will then take on a Prime Minister’s XI in a two-day day-night game in Canberra and they will finish their tour with a four-day match against Australia A in Brisbane, at the same time as the second Ashes test.

Head coach Flintoff said: “There are some unbelievably talented players in this squad, and this is a fantastic opportunity for them to go to Australia, excel in the conditions, and thrive against quality players. At the same time, these players will get a sense of what an away Ashes series is all about.

“Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with them to embrace that opportunity and help to build the experiences and skills that will benefit their careers.”

Mayes, meanwhile, will head to the West Indies for seven one day games against both their hosts and the United States.

The Lyndhurst and Ashurst batter impressed in the One Day Cup this season, marking his debut with a half century, before playing in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final of the T20 Blast.

The seven games in St Vincent will be played between Thursday, November 13 and Monday, December 1.
