Only Fools and Horses legend Patrick Murray died peacefully in his sleep, a statement has confirmed. Tributes have flooded in after the comedy star, renowned for his role as Mickey Pearce in the BBC classic, died aged 68.
His death was confirmed in a post on the Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society Facebook page. The post from the group, which organises fan conventions and said it had spoken to the actor’s family to confirm the tragic news, shared snaps from Patrick as Mickey in the show, alongside Rodney Trotter, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst.
The post said: “Patrick Murray. It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray – Mickey Pearce to so many.
“He was a regular attendee of our conventions and we will miss his humour and the joy he bought to many. Sleep Well Pat!” The president of the group Perry Aghajanoff shared a statement with the ECHO as he said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of actor Patrick Murray, best known to millions for his portrayal of Mickey Pearce in Only Fools and Horses.
“Patrick passed away peacefully in his sleep at 1.28am on Monday, 29 September 2025, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. Patrick’s sharp comedic timing and unforgettable turn as Del Boy’s rakish mate made Mickey Pearce a fan favourite across generations.
“Beyond the screen, Patrick was a warm, generous presence who cherished meeting fans and remained immensely proud of his connection to the show.
“Patrick was part of the fabric of Only Fools and Horses and of our community. He brought laughter, mischief, and heart to every scene. On behalf of the cast, crew, and fans, we send all our love to his family. He’ll be deeply missed.
“Details regarding funeral arrangements and opportunities for fans to pay their respects will be shared in due course. The family kindly requests privacy at this difficult time.”
Carol Challis, who was married to late Only Fools and Horses star, John Challis, has been one of many to take to social media to pay tribute to Patrick.
On X, she said: “My condolences to Pat’s beloved wife Anong and their daughter Josie.” She added: “Sullivan loved Pat’s Mickey Pearce.”
Many fans took to the comments to pay tribute after the sad news.
