The magic of wishing to be “Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving” officially arrived on stage as 13 Going on 30 – The Musical celebrated its gala night at the Manchester Opera House. The highly anticipated stage adaptation of the beloved 2004 rom-com classic dazzled a packed house, bringing the whimsical story of Jenna Rink to life.
The production stars Lucie Jones (best known for her turns in Les Misérables and Waitress) as the 13-year-old Jenna who miraculously wakes up as her 30-year-old self. Joining her are David Hunter (Waitress, Kinky Boots) as Jenna’s best friend and love interest, Matt Flamhaff, and Grace Mouat (Six, & Juliet) as Jenna’s frenemy, Lucy Wyman. The talented adult cast also includes Caleb Roberts as Richard and Andrew Berlin as Kyle Grandy.
The musical is an authentic adaptation, created by the original film writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, with music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. The stage vision is helmed by award-winning director Andy Fickman (Heathers: The Musical) and features choreography by Jennifer Weber.
