The Monegasque Sovereign took part in the discussions at the 7th EPC Summit in Denmark, which assembled heads of state and government from the old continent.
On Thursday 2 October in Copenhagen, the country’s capital, European leaders discussed the different issues of stability, security and cooperation on the continent. Set up in 2022, the European Political Community serves as a platform for debate between European Union member states, as well as non-members such as Ukraine.

During the discussions on “Economic security and reducing European dependency,” Prince Albert II stressed the importance of multilateralism and the need to reduce foreign dependency in certain strategic sectors, such as energy, technology and defence. He also emphasised the role of innovation and public support, citing Monaco Tech, the Monegasque start-up incubator dedicated to clean energy, as a concrete example of economic and ecological resilience.
Wide-ranging discussions on strengthening European cooperation
The Sovereign took part in the discussions on a European coalition against drugs, initiated last May at the Tirana summit in Albania by France and Italy. The aim is to strengthen cooperation against drug trafficking and illicit money streams and to develop prevention measures.
The Prince also met the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, who will hold the Presidency of the EU Council from 1 January 2026, and Andorra’s Head of Government, Xavier Espot Zamora. The discussions were an opportunity to express the importance of European unity and the central role played by sport in the Principality’s international commitments. Beforehand, the Sovereign attended an official dinner at the Amalienborg Palace with King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark.
