The Prince of Wales has made his first reference to his brother Prince Harry in several months, following their ongoing dispute, as he suggests alterations when he becomes King. The surprising name-drop came during an interview with actor Eugene Levy on his Apple+ travel series, The Reluctant Traveller.

The siblings have allegedly not encountered each other for months, with Harry recently having a meeting with his father King Charles during a trip to the UK, but failed to see his elder brother, the Prince of Wales.

Their rift appears to have deepened after Harry claimed in his bombshell Netflix series with his wife Meghan in 2022 that they “lied” to protect his brother, reports the Mirror. Read the biggest stories in Wales first by signing up to our daily newsletter here

He said: “They were happy to lie to protect my brother” while Meghan was “fed to the wolves”. But Harry later maintained he didn’t air his “dirty laundry” with his tell all interviews, reports the Manchester Evening News.

He said: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.”

Now, in a fresh discussion with Eugene Levy, William was questioned about his son, Prince George, becoming King one day, which prompted him to mention his younger sibling.

The heir to the throne said: “It’s an interesting question and it’s a big question that one. Because there’s lots of things to think about with that.

“But obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.

“That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in – and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation,” she said.

When Eugene suggested that the monarchy will be shifting in a slightly different direction, William went on: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good.

“And I embrace that and I enjoy that change – I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen.”

Whilst Harry has spoken candidly about his sibling, including in his autobiography Spare, William has kept quiet about his brother and their rift.

In his book, Harry alleged the brothers had a physical altercation. He claimed he offered William a glass of water before matters escalated.
