Paul, who was born in Birkenhead, died suddenly on March 28 2023, prompting a huge outpouring of love and tributes from across the country and beyond.
The animal lover and radio star had just finished working on ‘Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure‘, a two-part documentary series, two weeks before his death.
The TV star died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia at the age of 67, surrounded by his dogs and husband Andre Portasio at their home.
The late entertainer married Andre in 2017 and the two remained happily together until Paul’s death in 2023.
Andre has since vowed to carry on Paul’s legacy in his honour. He recently issued a heartfelt tribute as he marked a bittersweet occasion.
In August, Andre took to social media to mark their eighth wedding anniversary. He shared a number of snaps of their special day, alongside the caption: “Today marks what would have been 8 years of our vows a day I hold close, though shadows now surround.
“Two years since you left, yet your memory remains, a whisper in my heart, gentle echoes of pain.
“Eighteen years we danced in love’s sweet glow, timeless moments only true hearts know.
“Though you are gone, your love still remains, a eternal flame amid life’s rains.
“Forever missing you, my soul’s deepest ache, In every breath, your memory I take.
“Paul, you are my forever, my endless song— In my heart, you still belong.”
