Northern Soul Orchestrated will arrive at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Friday, March 13, 2026, as part of a UK tour.
The show, which celebrates the enduring legacy of Northern Soul music, is curated by writer and broadcaster Stuart Maconie and features the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of composer and conductor Joe Duddell.
Stuart Maconie said: “The Northern Soul Orchestrated shows have been nothing short of triumphant.
“Passionate, powerful, ecstatic music that we thought we would only ever hear again on treasured vinyl brought to life by extraordinary musicians and singers and celebrated by the people of the cities and towns that were the crucibles of this joyous scene.
“I guarantee you the night of your life.”
The tour follows the success of last year’s shows and will also visit venues in Sheffield, Stoke, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, and Birmingham.
It promises to transport audiences back to the heart of the Northern Soul movement with orchestral arrangements of classic tracks that defined the all-night dance culture of the 1960s and 70s across the North and Midlands.
Arrangements have been created by Fiona Brice and will be performed alongside guest vocalists.
Matthew Swann, director of the BBC Concert Orchestra, said: “Northern Soul Orchestrated is always a highlight for the BBC Concert Orchestra.
“It’s always a joy taking this incredible music around the UK to the audiences who formed the scene first time round across the Midlands and the North, and those who continue to be drawn to it.”
Joe Duddell, conductor for the tour, said he was especially pleased to bring the show to Stoke for the first time.
He said: “It’s great to be touring Northern Soul Orchestrated again in 2026 with the amazing BBC Concert Orchestra and stunning vocalists.
“Particularly looking forward to taking the show to Stoke for the first time, as it was such an important part of the Northern Soul scene.”
The tour begins in Sheffield on March 10 and concludes in Birmingham on March 15.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday, October 3, and will be available at www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
