Liverpool will be determined to return to winning ways when they take on Chelsea this afternoon. The Reds have lost each of their last two games, dropping crucial points in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Following defeats to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, respectively, Arne Slot will want to set the record straight. While Liverpool may fancy their chances against the Blues, they’re set to be without Alisson Becker between the sticks.

The Reds also haven’t kept a clean sheet since they defeated Burnley last month, so the Club World Cup champions could be inclined to let shots fly. With that being said, the ECHO has rounded up the latest Liverpool news ahead of this afternoon’s clash.

Real Madrid join race for Olise’s signature

According to BILD Sport journalist Christian Falk, Real Madrid have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Michael Olise. The report claims that Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in signing the Bayern Munich winger, who swapped Selhurst Park for the Allianz Arena last year.

It’s said that the Bundesliga champions have no intention of selling Olise. In fact, Bayern reportedly want to offer the France international a new contract, which runs until June 2031.

Dressing room thoughts on Slot revealed

Naby Keita has revealed what his former Liverpool teammates think about Slot. Speaking to Telecomasia, the 30-year-old midfielder, who left the Reds to join Werder Bremen on a free transfer in 2023, said: “The new manager has come in and instantly been able to get the best out of the team.

“He’s been able to get his ideas across easily and early, which is a very good thing. I still speak to a lot of my teammates and they say that the new manager is very good, which is easy to believe given how they’re performing.”

Salah helps Ekitike settle at Liverpool

In an interview with the BBC, Hugo Ekitike revealed how Mohamed Salah has helped him settle at Liverpool. The 23-year-old striker, who joined the Reds from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69m in the summer, said: “Mo is a really cool guy, he is really open with me and is really good to talk to.

“He is great to play with. I was watching him on TV when he was scoring the goals and stuff but he is a really great athlete. You can just improve yourself and learn from him. It is good to share the pitch with him and I hope we are going to score lots of goals and bring some wins to the team together.”

Ekitike added: “He is very cool. More cool than what I have seen on TV because sometimes you see straight face and stuff so I thought he was cold… someone who doesn’t talk a lot. He is really open, like all of the guys here. They are really open and want me to adapt to the team.”
