Beachgoers have had “nightmares” after going to a Merseyside beauty spot. Blundellsands is usually an idyllic spot to take a Sunday morning stroll, with gorgeous views of the Merseyside coast and miles of sandy beach.

However, last week this tranquil part of the northwest coastline turned into a scene from a horror movie when a creepy doll appeared on a flight of stairs leading from the beach to the promenade. The scary doll in question is a Baby Annabell-type doll that many of us had as children growing up.

She’s dressed in pink dungarees and is covered in black and green dirt from the sea. However, it’s the doll’s terrifying eyes that we believe are giving people nightmares.

Pictures of the freakish toy show her left eye closed while the right eye, in the deepest shade of black, is wide open – and it has reportedly been giving beachgoers who spotted it “nightmares.”

Jean Kane, who found the doll on the steps and shared a picture of it online, told the ECHO she found the “creepy” doll on Sunday (September 28) afternoon, while she was walking her dogs along the beach. She said it had been placed in-between the two ramps at Blundellsands.

She said: “Whoever left it there put it in the best place to give people a scare, as you spot it staring back just as you start climbing the steps.

“It’s rather sad that it was lost at sea, which I assume it was, as it’s covered in what could be oil and mud. My granddaughter has a doll very similar to that one and I know she’d be devastated if she lost it, particularly if she’d dropped it into the sea.

“Sadly we’ll never know how it ended up in the water or where it originally came from and who owned it.” Jean said it gave her “quite a fright.”

She posted the doll on Facebook and many beachgoers have come forward to say it was giving them nightmares. One person said: “This is what nightmares are made of.”

Another person said: “That doll’s a little bit disturbing,” and another added: “That doll will be in my nightmares tonight.” Others called it “scary” and “creepy”; another called it a “Halloween doll.”
