Roads across Cardiff were blocked by fallen trees on Saturday as Storm Amy hit. One home was hit by a tree in the Roath area of the city.

There were fallen trees reported in Canton, Pontcanna, Roath, Llanishen and Pentwyn. The city council’s parks team were out removing the trees, which caused traffic disruption in many areas. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here

Elsewhere in Wales, there were trees down in many areas including Anglesey where Storm Amy caused havoc. Anglesey council released a list of seven roads that had been blocked by falling trees. The M4 was also closed in both directions for several hours.

One tree fell at St Peter’s Church, Bedford Street, at 2pm, and hit the home of priest Chris Fuse, 76.

Father Fuse said: “It is our chuchhouse which was hit by the falling tree. We were fortunate. There was a fence it rested on, so it did not even break a window.

“It certainly was a blessing to us because it didn’t break any windows, it could have broke six or eight.“There was a loud noise, some neighbours came and they were the first people to look at it.

“I’ve tried to inform the council but I think they are sleeping on Saturdays. You would imagine there would be somebody on the phone.“It hasn’t done any damage so in that sense we’re grateful.”

In Pentwyn, residents reported a fallen tree outside the Hollybush pub. And on Conway Road in Pontcanna, a tree was severely damaged in the storm.
