After completing a successful first European season, Disney Fantasy has wrapped up its Mediterranean and Northern European cruises in France and is now heading for drydock upgrades. The ship’s inaugural season in Europe, which included voyages across popular destinations like Italy, Spain, and the Greek Islands, was met with great success, offering guests an unforgettable Disney experience. Following the completion of its European voyages, the ship will undergo routine maintenance and enhancements in drydock, ensuring it’s in top condition for its highly anticipated November return to the Caribbean. These upgrades are part of Disney Cruise Line’s ongoing efforts to maintain the ship’s high standards and provide even better experiences for its guests in the coming Caribbean season.
A memorable debut in the Mediterranean.
Disney Fantasy’s European journey began in late May, and it was the ship’s anticipated debut in the Mediterranean. This was a big step for the ship since it began offering cruise experience for guests based out of Spain and Italy. The ship’s itinerary offered seven to twelve-night cruises for guests that included some of the cruise’s most memorable Mediterranean destinations that included Spain, France, Italy and Malta. The Greek Islands were a popular cruise destination where guests appreciated the beautiful landscapes and the rich ancient history of the islands.
The Mediterranean season was a wonderful mix of adventure, relaxation, and Disney magic. This season was made memorable because of the beautiful Mediterranean coastline, rich cultures, and relaxing and historic sightseeing cruises. For the first time, cruise families got to experience Mediterranean hospitality Disney style, making Disney cruise magic available Mediterranean magic sights and attractions.
Northern Europe and Southampton
In July, Disney Fantasy changed course to Southampton to mark the start of it’s Northern European season, offering Disney Fantasy it’s first season of sailing the waterways of the British Isles. Disney Fantasy offered a choice of 3 to 8 night stays, visiting Disney Fantasy boasts parks in Europe, is the centre of the beautiful Nordics, and Northern France. Above all the desired destinations were the Waldfjord in the Fjords of Norway, offering guests extraordinary beauty and experience.
During the summer, customers had the chance to cruise the North Sea and the British Isles. The cruises were a new way to view and appreciate the Isles’ history and British culture. The cruises also called on the historic cities of Edinburgh and Dublin, along with other picturesque coastal towns. The Northern European summer cruise season just ended, and the Disney Fantasy completes its last cruise from Southampton and heads to Brest, France, for scheduled drydock maintenance.
Drydock Maintenance and Upgrades
Drydock maintenance requires Disney Fantasy to take on necessary technical maintenance, and service and structure inspections. To continue meeting the performance and safety standards of the cruise ship industry, drydock maintenance requires upgrades. Disney Fantasy is also receiving upgrades to her public spaces and amenities. Improvemenets made to her sister ship, the Disney Dream, sets a standard for what Disney hopes to accomplish with Disney Fantasy.
Earlier this year, Disney Fantasy had to cancel four sailings to allow for drydock time. Guests had the opportunity to be rebooked on different trips. After this drydock, the ship will be servicing customers again on November 3, 2025, along with a complimentary transatlantic crossing to Port Canaveral, Florida. After this, Disney Fantasy will offer a series of Caribbean cruises. This marks the ship’s return to its year-round itinerary, as it will be servicing Caribbean cruises consistently.
Return to the Caribbean and Bahamas
Upon its return to the Caribbean, Disney Fantasy will be offering 3 to 5-night cruises. Passengers on these cruises will be able to enter and exit Port Canaveral and will visit some of the Caribbean’s most sought-after destinations. Disney’s ships will stop at the company’s private islands and every guest on the voyage will be able to take part in the Disney experiences on Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Disney Fantasy’s year-round Caribbean and Bahamian schedule will mean families on the trips will be able to experience a Caribbean vacation and offer a schedule with both a rest, and the ability to be active.
Disney Dream Expands European Itineraries
Disney Fantasy is currently focused on Caribbean itineraries. For this reason, Disney Dream Returns to Europe. After a two-year break, Disney Dream is replacing Fantasy on the Mediterranean and Northern Europe routes. The ship will offer a variety of seven to twelve night cruises, departing from European ports like Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome), and Southampton. This way, Disney fans can also enjoy the Dream on European seas, while Disney Dream’s distinct adventures offer additional routes.
Looking Ahead to Disney Fantasy
Disney Fantasy will not return to Europe any time soon. But, its anticipated return to the Caribbean is loaded with excitement. The newly updated drydock will have new refurbishments and enhancements, ensuring that Families will enjoy their time on the ship in comfort. “Disney Fantasy’s return to the Caribbean will offer an incredible vacation, with private Disney islands, sunny beaches, and Caribbean hospitality” said a Disneyland spokesperson. This will be a perfect getaway for families.
At the same time, Disney Dream’s return to Europe guarantees that Disney Cruise Line can continue to grow its European fleet. This allows Disney to continue expanding its European itineraries to cover exciting new locations in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Both ships will have different itineraries to Disney Dream and Disney Magic. This offers Disney Cruise Line fans to choose between the scenic and stunning coastlines of Europe or book a voyage to the beautiful Caribbean for a warm, tropical vacation.
With the continued fleet refreshes, Disney Cruise Line offers more adventures to Disney Fantasy and its sister ships. This marks the beginning of a new era where cruisers will experience more magical voyages on the high seas.
