Maggie Baugh is rising to fame.

The Florida-born country artist began playing violin at 6 years old before moving to Nashville and pursuing a career in the music industry, all of which led to her current gig as the utility player on Keith Urban‘s tour.

During a recent performance on Sept. 26, she and Urban performed his song, “The Fighter,” featuring Carrie Underwood. As seen in a clip shared on Instagram by Baugh, Urban changed a lyric from the song to include her name as the pair performed together.

The original line “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter” was sung by Urban as “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”

“Did he just say that👀,” Baugh captioned the clip, which had two emojis over the video: “🫣 🤯.”

Urban has revealed that the song was inspired by his relationship with his wife, Nicole Kidman, who filed for divorce from the country star on Sept. 30. Their split was confirmed one day earlier, with a source telling PEOPLE that Kidman “didn’t want this.”

Baugh was born and raised in Boca Raton, Fla. During a conversation with Undiscovered Nashville in September 2019, Baugh shared that “country music fell into [her] lap” because her dad is from West Texas.

However, as she told Hamilton County’s The Reporter in September 2025, that doesn’t mean she came from a musical family, as her dad is a microbiologist and her mother is a stay-at-home mom with a dog training business on the side.

Baugh attended a performing arts middle school, where she was part of the orchestra program, according to Nash News. Just after graduation, Baugh moved to Nashville at 18 years old.

“It was probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” Baugh told the outlet.

Baugh started playing violin at 6 years old, and was only 11 when she performed at Carnegie Hall. Shortly after, she turned to songwriting after being bullied and needing an outlet to express herself, as she told PEOPLE in October 2021.

“I had to write my feelings down,” Baugh said. “I chose music as an outlet instead of doing something horrible that kids do now when they’re depressed and bullied. I fell in love with music and pouring my heart out into words.”

The country artist also talked about her songwriting process, comparing music to her “boyfriend.”

“I feel like music has always just been my boyfriend. So, whenever I have a boyfriend, it’s always like, ‘Oh, you’re just temporary,’ ” she said. “But when I do go through a breakup, I don’t go to the bar. I put my guitar in my hands.”

In October 2023, Baugh released her debut album, titled, Dear Me. According to her website, her second album, Entertainers Heart, is set to be released in late 2025.

Over the years, she has performed on notable stages, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry, where she made her debut in December 2024.

During her conversation with The Reporter, Baugh said she felt “so lucky” that she gets to “call music [her] job.”

“I literally get to see so many amazing things and see so many things that people dream about,” she said. “And I don’t take a single day of it for granted.”

Baugh has performed with several big country artists as she’s paved her way in the industry. In 2021, she played alongside Luke Bryan and Trace Adkins in the latter’s music video for “Where the Country Girls At,” which also features Pitbull.

The country artist is currently on Urban’s High and Alive World Tour as his utility player. In April 2025, she shared on Instagram that her first show with Urban was at the Country Music Television Awards in 2024, which led to her joining him on the road.

“I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since my first ever show with Keith at the CMT Awards!! Who knew this show would kick off an entire year touring the world as his utility player,” she captioned a video of their performance. “Absolutely so grateful for all of it… every arena, every TV show, every club date … I’ll never forget it! It’s been a wild year… so here’s a little throwback to the CMT awards last year.”
