Wigan Warriors enjoyed yet another semi-final victory, as they overcame a valiant Leigh Leopards side in a display of defensive excellence.

Matt Peet’s side are preparing for their 14th Super League Grand Final, having won seven of their previous 13 visits to Old Trafford.

The Warriors have won the trophy for the past two years, and are on track to earn a three-peat, an achievement only ever done twice before.

A man that has been so integral to those past two trophy wins is 2023 Man of Steel winner, Bevan French, who once again has been amongst the best the league has to offer this year, with 34 try contributions in 22 matches.

Despite not being nominated for this year’s Man of Steel award, many fans and pundits are in agreement that French has become one of Super League’s best overseas players, having transformed this Wigan side into a dominant force since his arrival part-way through 2019.

Not only does French pick teams apart with his sublime speed and agility, he is able to perform in the big matches, and does so on a consistent basis. He showed that once again as he crossed for a brace of tries in victory over the Leopards, and assisted the other.

In the 10 matches that French has played against the other five teams that finished in the playoffs, French has totalled an incredible six tries and 11 assists, which has been key to Wigan’s success this year.

After such a dominant performance against their local rivals, the 29-year-old wowed everybody, as many took to social media to discuss what a player he is.

One person who sang his praises was former St Helens prop, and current Sky Sports commentator, Kyle Amor, who could not believe the performance French was putting on.

The former Ireland international made a claim that the Australian was one of the best to ever do it in the competition, saying: “I swear Bevan French is the best player I’ve ever seen in Super League… it happens all too often.”
