Police were called to Tetbury, across the border from Oxfordshire in Gloucestershire, and uncovered a giant weed haul consisting of hundreds of plants growing in an industrial unit.

Officers say the haul was so large that they were forced to use the suspect’s bedding to collect all of the evidence.

The site of the grow in Tetbury is close to Highgrove House, the family residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Two officers from the Tetbury Neighbourhood Police team came across the factory while on a routine patrol through the units.

A statement from Cotswolds Neighbourhood Police said: “It’s been quite the night for the Tetbury Neighbourhood Police Team.

“While patrolling some industrial units in the town, PC Callum Morley-Blackwell and PCSO Ed had occasion to challenge suspicious men who fled through one of the buildings.

“While searching the unit for the suspects, the officers located a large cannabis factory, along with the suspects’ living quarters, which were also on site.

“Sometime later, with the help of colleagues from Dursley, the grow was dismantled.

“We have to confess that we ran out of extra-large evidence bags and had to borrow the suspects’ duvet covers in order to recover all of the 225 plants.

“We nearly didn’t get all the evidence in our van. We’ll be happy to return the bedding if the owners would like to get in touch with us at Cirencester.”
