The carcass of an animal has been left outside the grounds of a church in Co Tyrone.

Video footage shared on social media shows what appears to be the internal organs of several animals placed at a wall outside St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Caledon.

Taking to social media, the church’s priest Father Cathal Devaney said: “This is disgraceful and disturbing. Someone dumped this animal waste in St. Joseph’s carpark Caledon. We have informed the police, local council and others.

“I am very saddened and angry. I prayed for whoever did it. They are in a bad place. May St Joseph watch over our parish today and everyday.

Sinn Fein MLA Colm Gildernew condemned the incident, calling it a “sickening act”.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the abhorrent and criminal act on our parish and churchgoers with the dumping of animal carcasses at Caledon Chapel,” he said.

“I also want to express my support for Father Deveney and all parishioners. There is absolutely no place in our society for this behaviour. Whoever is behind this sickening act must be brought to justice.
