Click Energy has become the latest Northern Ireland electricity supplier to announce a price increase.

The Derry-based energy firm confirmed a 3.5% price increase from November 1.

It follows the 4% price increase introduced by the north’s largest supplier Power NI at the start of October.

Northern Ireland’s second largest electricity supplier SSE Airtricity has confirmed it will increase its tariff by 4% on November 1.

The latest analysis by the north’s Utility Regulator indicates Click Energy had 36,357 customers in Northern Ireland at the end of June 2025, of which 33,556 were domestic customers.

The company, which is officially registered as Project Plug Limited, is jointly owned by Michael Moreland, Kevin Anthony Lagan and Michael Anthony Lagan.

Click Energy’s tariff increase has been confirmed by the Consumer Council, who said the average Click customer will see their annual electricity costs rise by around £40 per year.

Raymond Gormley, head of energy at the consumer body, said: “From 1 November, a typical Click Energy credit customer will see their annual electricity bill increase from around £1,141 to £1,171 and a typical prepayment customer will see their annual costs increase to around £1,181.

“While this is unwelcome news for around 33,000 Click Energy consumers, the main drivers for this are rising wholesale and market related charges.

He added: “We would encourage consumers to think about the way they pay for their energy and see if they can reduce their energy costs.

“Being on a standard tariff and paying on receipt of a bill is the most expensive way to pay for your electricity.

“Switching payment option, changing billing method, or even switching supplier may save you money.”
