The Rugby League Awards night have been held in Manchester and that’s seen the Super League Coach of the Year crowned with Willie Peters retaining his crown.

Reigning coach of the year Willie Peters was among the three nominees alongside Wigan Warriors’ Matt Peet and Leigh Leopards’ Adrian Lam, with the coaches of Super League’s top three sides comprising the shortlist.

That shortlist marked the three previous winners with Peet claiming the award in 2022, Lam in 2023 and Peters in 2024, with Lam having also won it back in 2020 when at Wigan Warriors.

All three men had obvious cases with Willie Peters going one better than last year, when he won the award, and securing Hull KR the League Leaders Shield.

Matt Peet’s Wigan have again been extraordinary, whilst Leigh Leopards have recorded their highest-ever finish in Super League by placing third and earning a home play-off semi-final for the first time.

Hull KR boss named Super league Coach of the Year for second straight year

The event saw Peters crowned just days ahead of him leading Hull KR out at Old Trafford as they aim to complete the treble, having already won the League Leaders Shield and Challenge Cup.

Since being awarded in 2009, Peters is the first man to retain the crown and joins Adrian Lam and Daryl Powell as one of the only men to win the award twice.

Having won last year for a second-placed finish in Super League, it was incredibly hard to look past him getting the nod this year.

The Australian is in his third year with Hull KR and has recently been confirmed as an assistant coach for Australia in the upcoming Ashes series.

Earlier in the night, St Helens’ Harry Robertson was crowned Super League Young Player of the Year.
