A post mortem examination is set to be carried out following the sad discovery

A body was found in a canal in the Black Country today, police have confirmed.
West Midlands Police said the body was discovered just before 11am this morning (Tuesday, October 7).
Officers were called to Ryders Green Road in West Bromwich after the body was found in water.

Locals reported that part of the canal had been drained as police worked in the area.
A blue tent was also spotted by residents nearby.
West Midlands Police confirmed the sad news in a statement to BlackCountryLive.
They said: “A body was discovered in water near Ryders Green Road, West Bromwich, just before 11am today.
“At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained.”

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
The spokesperson added: “A forensic post mortem will be carried out in due course to help establish the cause of death.”
