Car rental costs have skyrocketed, but Britons looking to dodge the steep charges should consider a city break where walking is the sole transport requirement.
The language learning platform Preply has examined data to pinpoint Europe’s most pedestrian-friendly cities, spotlighting destinations where travellers can sidestep car rental entirely.
They’ve uncovered urban gems requiring minimal walking between major attractions.
Whilst the picturesque Oxford secured the domestic crown, it was a Spanish treasure that claimed the European title for most walker-friendly destination.
Seville, Andalusia’s shining star, dominated the walkability charts, boasting merely a 20-minute stroll between essential landmarks, reports the Mirror, reports the Express.
Apart from being tapas’ birthplace, Seville provides abundant cultural treasures and stands as the epicentre of Spain’s most vibrant festivities.
Tripadvisor’s highest-rated Seville attraction, Plaza de Espana, mesmerises visitors with its 1928 magnificence and provides tranquil canal boat trips.
One Tripadvisor reviewer gushed: “Stunningly beautiful! My favourite part of Seville.”
Another commented: “Wow, wow, wow! Stunning architecture and scrupulously well kept. Not to be missed.”
Whilst another tourist remarked: “This was an incredible place for us to visit. This is a must-see location for anyone visiting Seville.”
Apart from the plaza, the Real Alcazar de Sevilla and the city’s Cathedral are essential visits, whilst Parque de Maria Luisa provides a perfect haven of tranquillity. Autumn is the perfect time to discover Seville, as summer temperatures can rocket to a scorching 40 degrees.
