MACON-BIBB COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — Nichiha USA has announced the partial closure of its manufacturing facility in Macon.
As of Monday, production at Plant 1, dedicated to residential business, ceased certain functions, transitioning operations to Plant 2, which focuses on commercial structures. This move follows a review of the company’s long-term business priorities and aims to enhance future competitiveness.
Plant 2 will continue to operate as the hub for Nichiha USA’s growth and expansion in the U.S. The company says it remains committed to Georgia and Macon-Bibb County, pledging to invest in the region, create jobs, and contribute positively to the local economy through Plant 2’s ongoing operations.
The closure of Plant 1 will affect some employees, but Nichiha USA has confirmed that support will be provided to those impacted during the transition.
“Macon has been more than just a place of business. It has been a true home for the company, our employees, and their families. While this decision was extremely difficult, it is necessary to build a stronger foundation for long-term success. Nichiha USA remains committed to being a responsible corporate citizen in Macon-Bibb County for many years to come,” President and CEO Takayuki Okada said.
