A collision on the Edinburgh Bypass triggered huge delays for drivers on Wednesday morning.

The incident was first reported at around 7.20am, between Baberton and Dreghorn. Motorists were urged to ‘use caution and expect delays.

Over two hours later, at 9.58am, Traffic Scotland said traffic on the M8 was delayed by approximately 34 minutes. The A720 was ‘running clear’ with minor delays.

The condition of those involved is not currently known.

Posting to X, Traffic Scotland said: “While the earlier collision between Baberton and Dreghorn has cleared, traffic on the M8 to Hermiston Gait is delayed by approx. 34 mins.

“The A720 E/B is running well with minor delays.”

At 9.44am, Edinburgh Travel News added: “Ongoing delays A89, M8 and M9 around Newbridge & A8 Newbridge to Gogar following the earlier RTC on the City Bypass.

“A70 & A71 also seeing delays at Curriehill Rd & Gillespie crossroads Queue on the Edinburgh-bound A90 with reports of an incident after Dolphington.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
