A man who scarred a minibus driver for life in a road rage attack has been tagged for eight months.
Kieran Prentice, 36, punched his victim on the M8 motorway at Glasgow’s Provan on January 27, 2024.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the bus driver was transporting elderly people as part of his job.
Prentice – who was driving behind the minibus – sounded his horn at him.
The bus driver then gestured to Prentice to continue moving forward.
Prosecutor Caitlin McAllister said: “The traffic was heavy but the cars had come to a stop.
“Prentice approached the driver’s door and attempted to pull [the driver] from his seat but was unable to due to him wearing a seatbelt.
“Prentice then punched [the driver] on the face before he walked away to his own car and drove off.”
The bus driver finished his shift at Community Transport Glasgow and dropped off his passengers.
He then went to hospital where he was found to have suffered two wounds to his eye.
Ms McAllister added: “These were closed with three stitches and tissue glue but [the driver] has been left permanent scarred under his eye.”
Prentice, of the city’s Germiston, was not arrested until one week later.
He pled guilty to the assault to the bus driver’s injury and permanent disfigurement.
Sheriff Lorraine Glancy KC put Prentice on a restricted movement order for eight months which will run between 8pm and 7am for every day except Wednesday when he will be kept indoors between 9pm and 7am.
Prentice was also put under supervision for a period of 12 months.
