Prince Harry and Prince William could be brought together again amid their royal rift.
The two brothers have not mended the falling out in their relationship. While Harry seems to be closing the rift with his father King Charles, one still remains with William. But Harry and William could reunite for the first time in a few years because of their close friend, the Duke of Westminster.
Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, and his wife, Olivia, welcomed their first child, daughter Cosima, in late July. RadarOnline reports that palace sources told them that Hugh is “seriously considering” having both siblings be joint godfathers to his newborn daughter.
A royal insider claimed to the outlet, “Hugh has been one of the few people to stay close to both William and Harry through everything. He’s seen how painful the distance between them has become, and he’d love to see them in the same room again – ideally on good terms.
“The idea of naming them joint godfathers has come up more than once. He thinks it could be a small step toward healing things,” they added.

Hugh is a British aristocrat and an inherited trust manager. He became one of the wealthiest men in Britain in 2016 when he inherited his title and ownership of the Grosvenor Estate from his late father, Gerald Grosvenor.
The closeness with the royal brothers also goes way back for the two families. Hugh’s late father was a confidante of Charles, and Gerald had asked the British King to be Hugh’s godfather, which he is.
Hugh is the godfather of Prince George, the Prince of Wales’ son, and Prince Archie, the Duke of Sussex’s son. The 34-year-old has not commented on the brothers’ rift and reportedly remained neutral about it.
Another source told the outlet, “Hugh knows it’s sensitive territory, but he also knows the impact this gesture could have. If anyone can bring them together, it’s him. He’s been a friend since their school days and has managed to stay out of the politics of it all.”
Both Harry and William are close friends with Hugh
Last year, William attended Hugh’s wedding to Olivia and also served as an usher. Harry and Meghan did not attend the wedding festivities.
Per Radar, a friend of Harry said, “It was nothing personal. He wanted to avoid any awkwardness or headlines on what was meant to be a joyful day for Olivia.”
William and Harry have reportedly privately congratulated the couple on their daughter’s arrival. According to the outlet, a family friend said, “They each sent warm messages to Hugh and Olivia after the baby arrived. There’s no animosity toward them – the tension is really just between the brothers themselves. Hugh is hoping this might be the moment to change that.”
Royal aids claimed that the selection of godparents will possibly be announced near the christening, which is expected to happen in the fall at a private chapel on the Grosvenor family’s Eaton Hall estate in Cheshire.
