The Nokia 800 Tough, a rugged feature phone, was released back in 2019, and according to a tipster on X, HMD is about to update the model with a second-generation offering some improvements.
Design-wise, the rugged phone won’t be any different from its predecessor, featuring roughly the same dimensions and a near-identical look. However, the micro USB port will be replaced with the modern USB-C connector, and the OS will be updated from KaiOS 2.5.2 to KaiOS 3.1. This will ensure better app compatibility and a smoother user experience overall.
The rest of the features and hardware will likely remain the same, which include an IP68 ingress protection and MIL-STD-810 military-grade standard.
Unfortunately, we don’t know when HMD plans to release the phone and how much it will cost, so we are going to have to wait for that.
