Five generations of a Bristolian family have come together for a photograph, 23 years on from members of the same family gathering for a snap for the Bristol Evening Post.

Keeley Wedlock, now 45, was the second youngest woman in the old photo — taken in 2002 — holding her then-infant daughter Ellie. On September 29, Ellie gave birth to her own daughter, Ivy-Elizabeth, making Keeley a very proud new grandmother.

Ellie had spent the previous day fishing with her partner, and in a good omen even caught her personal best. Her waters broke that evening and she gave birth to her daughter at St Michael’s Hospital three weeks early, with baby weighing in at 6lb 8oz.

This year’s photo was rounded off by great grandmother Kim Perkins, 66, and great great grandmother Pam Withey, 86. The great great grandmother from the ‘original’ photo, Evelyn Richards, died in 2007.

Keeley said it was wonderful to have welcomed Ivy into the world, and to once again be able to gather five generations of the family together at her Highridge home for such a special picture.

“We have lived in Bristol our whole lives, even great, gran Evelyn from the original photo who is no longer with us,” she said. “She gave birth to twin girls, one of which is great, great nan Pam, the other great, great auntie Pat passed just recently in August.”

With so many women in the family, Keeley said Ellie was spoilt for choice when it came to mothering tips.

“Ellie said to say it means so much to her to have so many important women in Ivy’s life who she can rely on for advice and support and for helping out with baby sitting duties, not that she’s been short of offers!” she said.

“For me, it’s just wonderful to be a first time grandmother. I’m so in love with her and so proud of how brilliantly my daughter and future son in law are doing!”
