A man who was arrested on suspicion of committing 21 child sex offences has been charged with a further 79 crimes, including rape and blackmail. Dylan Matthews, of Elmcroft Close, Walton, was initially charged in August in relation to offences against multiple children, which allegedly occurred between July 2024 and July 2025.

He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Saturday, August 9, and was remanded to next appear at Liverpool Crown Court the following day. The 20-year-old was accused of rape, six counts of causing or inciting sexual activity with a child, nine counts of sexual communication with a child, distributing an indecent image of a child, sexual activity with a child and three counts of being in possession of indecent images of a child.

Today, October 10, Merseyside Police has announced he has been charged with an additional 79 offences, relating to multiple victims, bringing his total charges to 100.

He now stands accused of two counts of blackmail, one count of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, 44 counts of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, 35 counts of sexual communication with a child, 15 counts of making indecent images of a child, and one count of possession of indecent images of a child.

Matthews remains in custody and appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Thursday 9 October. His next court appearance will be on Tuesday, November 11.

Detective Sergeant Georgia Bevan from Merseyside Police’s Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team (CCSET) said: “I would continue to urge anyone who is a victim of any form of sexual abuse to please report this to police, as our specially trained officers will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.

“We take all such reports extremely seriously, and in addition, work with partner organisations such as Victim care Support Service and RASA who are there to support victims of this crime.”
