United Airlines will fly to four new Europe destinations from Newark next year, flying seasonally to Split, Croatia; Glasgow, Scotland; Bari, Italy; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Flights to Split will begin April 30 and operate three times per week. Split will be United’ second Croatia destination, joining Dubrovnik. Bari flights will operate four times per week, beginning May 1. Both routes will utilize Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
United will fly daily from Newark to Glasgow beginning May 8 and thrice-weekly seasonal service to Santiago de Compostela on May 27. United will fly Boeing 737 Max 8 narrowbody planes on the routes.
United will be the lone carrier on all four routes and the only airline connecting the U.S. nonstop with Split and Santiago de Compostela. Italian carrier Neo flies weekly summer service to Bari from New York Kennedy, according to Cirium data.
United announced the new Europe destinations while confirming it will continue serving all nine of the international destinations introduced this year — Dakar, Senegal; Nuuk, Greenland; Ulaanbataar, Mongolia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Faro, Portugal; the Portuguese island of Madeira; Bilbao, Spain; Palermo, Sicily; and Puerto Escondido, Mexico.
United on Thursday announced two other international routes for next year: Newark-Seoul and Washington Dulles-Iceland.
Daily Newark-Seoul service will begin Sept. 4 and compete against South Korea’s Air Premia. Newark will be United’s second gateway to Seoul, joining San Francisco. United will fly the route with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
United will begin serving Reykjavik daily from Washington Dulles on May 21, joining its existing Iceland routes from Chicago O’Hare and Newark.
United will compete against Icelandair on Washington-Reykjavik and will fly the route with a Boeing 757-200.
