Through LFC Foundation and Red Together, the club delivers a number of programmes across schools, community hubs and at Anfield itself to support people with their mental health.
These initiatives are designed to help people of all ages build confidence, make connections and develop coping skills, with the aim of improving mental wellbeing across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
The club and LFC Foundation, its official charity, were proud to launch the new Kicking Off Conversations initiative last month, which offers people a safe, welcoming place to talk about their mental wellbeing on Premier League matchdays at Anfield.
The hub was open for the first time at the Merseyside derby in September and welcomed almost 40 supporters ahead of the game, who were able to start conversations around mental health and find out what support is available.
More information about Kicking Off Conversations, which is delivered alongside Samaritans, is available here or by emailing safeguarding@liverpoolfc.com.
This latest initiative is just one of the programmes led by LFC Foundation with a focus on improving mental health. These include dedicated sessions for children and young adults through the Red Hot Beats, Sound Minds and On Target Extra programmes.
These programmes are key in providing young people with a variety of mental health, wellbeing and coping skills and giving them the tools to improve their understanding and managing of emotions and learning positive communication skills.
For further details on how local schools can get involved in these programmes, please email lfcfoundation@liverpoolfc.com.
Support is also available for the wider community through LFC Foundation’s Red Neighbours team, who play a key role in improving the health and mental wellbeing of the local community.
Their Welcome Reds project offers isolated fans the opportunity to join fellow supporters to come together in a safe and inclusive environment which helps reduce social isolation, which can lead to feelings of loneliness, depression and a decline in physical health. To sign up, please email redneighbours@liverpoolfc.com.
To mark World Mental Health Day, the club will also be hosting a number of activities for colleagues as part of its Red Together initiative. These include wellbeing walks, meditation sessions and providing support and information on ways to look after your mental health.
The Red Together initiative sits under The Red Way, the club’s ongoing commitment to creating a better future for its people, planet and communities.
If you or someone you know needs help and support, you can talk to Samaritans who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling 116 123. All calls are free of charge.
