After the crash, Network Rail said some train services from Glasgow Central had been suspended.

The travel firm announced that no trains were running on the Argyle Line from Glasgow Central low-level.

They said trains were axed after a van struck a bridge parapet above the railway line near Bridgeton.

Following the crash, Network Rail said it was ‘unsafe’ to run trains; however, they said engineers were working to repair the damage as soon as possible.

They also shared images from the scene, which showed a van submerged into a wall in the area.

Network Rail said: “As you can see, the bridge parapet has been damaged significantly, with a large amount of debris falling onto the railway below.

“Our priority is to make the bridge safe and remove the debris so we can get trains running again.”

At 8.03am on Friday, Network Rail confirmed that engineers had completed work to make the railway safe, allowing trains to run in the area again.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 3.05am on Friday, October 10, 2025, officers received a report of a crash involving a van and a stationary car on Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow.

“The driver of the van left the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.”
