Liverpool have already spent over £450million trying to improve their ranks this summer.
Arne Slot’s first-team squad have had a massive overhaul, with several members of the Reds’ team still needing to get to their best.
Indeed, they’re currently sitting second in the Premier League table, but with the form they’ve shown in their last three games, it feels like a lot more could come from the Anfield outfit.
Despite the massive amount of spending, there are still a couple of areas that look a tad weaker than most fans would like them to.

Of course, you can’t have two of the best players in the world in every position on the pitch, but when the opportunity is there to improve their ranks, there’s no reason why Liverpool shouldn’t at least explore their options.
Sami Mokbel backs Liverpool to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace
Adam Wharton has been one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders over the last couple of years.
Several clubs, such as Manchester United, and Liverpool have shown an interest in him over the last few years, with his talents even being compared to those of N’Golo Kante.
Every time he steps onto the pitch, he helps Crystal Palace’s defensive line stay rock solid with his range of passing, also able to link their attacks up more often than not.
Even though The Eagles are said to want around £75million to prise him away from Selhurst Park, that hasn’t stopped Sami Mokbel from saying that the Reds are said to have ‘big interest’ in the midfielder.
“In terms of Liverpool’s interest, I’m reliably informed that there is a big interest in Adam Wharton for next summer,” he said on the Born N’ Red Podcast.
“But we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out. Liverpool have had a very heavy summer of spending.
“And I think what we do know next summer that it certainly won’t be as heavy as this summer, and they might have to be a bit more selective in terms of the number of players that they go for.
“But if they are going for a number six, a central midfielder, a dictator of play, then as I understand it, Adam Wharton will be pretty high on those list of options for Liverpool.”
Adam Wharton signing for Liverpool would be a massive statement of intent
Over the years, clubs like Manchester City and Real Madrid have had wonder teams with each outfit having at least two world-class players for every position.
And, although the last couple of seasons have been a bit better for Liverpool in that sense, they’ve still not had two world-class players for every position among their ranks.
However, if they do end up trying to sign Wharton in the summer, then they’d be one step closer.
Wharton and Ryan Gravenberch are arguably two of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders.
Both would more than deserve to start for any team in England’s top flight, but if the Reds managed to have both at the same time, it would be an unreal bit of business for them.

It would also make a massive statement of intent and show the world that Slot’s men were here to stay and compete for every title possible.
Here’s hoping that a move comes to light in the near future.
