REDCAR have a third and final shot at team silverware this season when they host Glasgow in the second leg of their BSN Series semi-final at the ECCO Arena today (Sunday, 6pm).
The Bears have lost out to Poole recently in both the league play-offs and the MAXiCab KO Cup Final, but this tie with the Tigers is tantalisingly poised.
Glasgow were restricted to just a 46-44 win in the first leg at Ashfield last month, but they did record an impressive league victory on Teesside earlier this summer.
The Tigers are also warming up for a massive week ahead as they face Poole in the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final, and it is the Pirates who await the aggregate winners of this tie as well.
Redcar bring back Jake Allen to guest for Erik Riss whilst Jody Scott returns from his concussion absence, and Glasgow name a full-strength team.
Bears manager Gavin Parr said: “We need to rally and beat Glasgow to face Poole again. If we do qualify and end up losing to Poole in all three competitions, we haven’t had a bad season as they are a quality side. However, we want to win so we can battle Poole again.
“We know (Glasgow) they have a very strong top five so it will be down to our middle order to score as many as possible whilst also aiming to beat their reserves in all of their seven outings.”
Tigers boss Cami Brown said: “The boys are ready to fight for every single point in every single race.
“It’s going to be a big week. There are big tasks ahead but no stone has been left unturned to make sure we are in the best possible shape.
“Redcar is a tough place to go, and they’ve had a tough week with defeats to Poole. They will be fired-up to get something from their season. If we deliver a performance like we did in the league, we’ll get the job done.”
