Multiple homes on a residential street in Handsworth remain taped off after a man was fatally stabbed.

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a 48-year-old man died following a stabbing on Uplands Road shortly before 10pm on Saturday night, October 11.

He was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning this afternoon.

BirminghamLive was at the scene on Uplands Road on Sunday afternoon, which was calm and kept in place by a singular police car.

Three homes were taped off by a blue and white police cordon, which stretched around the front of the properties and covered access to a side passage.

A West Midlands Police car was stationed outside the properties.

The cordon covered the area from the front gate to all properties, but pedestrians were able to use the pavement outside the homes.

As a police investigation continues, officers have appealed to anyone with information to get in touch with them, providing a log number to do so.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said on Sunday afternoon: “A man’s been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died following a stabbing in Birmingham.

“We were called by ambulance colleagues to Uplands Road, Handsworth, shortly before 10pm last night (11 October).

“It was reported a man aged 48, had been found with stab injuries, and he was sadly confirmed dead at the scene a short time later.

“We are in touch with the man’s family and they are being supported by our specialist officers at this tragic time.

“A man, aged 43, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

“At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened.

“A scene remains in place, and local officers will be patrolling the area throughout the day.

“As our investigation continues, we would ask anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting log 4604 of 11 October.
