A section of Birmingham city centre has been cordoned off after a teenager was stabbed.

West Midlands Police was called to Dale End following reports of a knifing just after 6pm on Sunday, October 12.

They found a 17-year-old boy who had suffered potentially serious injuries who was given treatment at the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital and police have a scene in place around Dale End.

The public are being asked to avoid this section of the city centre but there are no bus diversions reported to be in place.

The force said: “We currently have a scene in place in Birmingham city centre following reports of a stabbing.

“We were called to High Street, near Dale End, just after 6pm last night (12 October) to reports someone had been stabbed.

“A boy, aged 17, was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.

“Our investigation is at an early stage as officers work to establish exactly what happened.

“A scene is likely to remain in place into the morning and we would ask people to avoid the area.”
