Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) released a book titled “Tourism: innovative pathways to sustainable livelihoods–diversifying rural occupations” authored by Dr. Myla Thyagaraju, at Kakaturu Campus in SPSR Nellore district.

The book explores how tourism can contribute to the diversification of rural employment opportunities. The author said that sustainable tourism practices are essential for the developing countries like India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said, “The tourism sector offers new avenues for economic stability in rural communities. Tourism plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals. I urge the youth to come up with creative ideas in this field.”

“The growth of rural tourism revitalises traditional occupations, arts, and cultural practices. This book serves as a valuable guide linking rural tourism with sustainable livelihoods,” he added. VSU Registrar Dr. K. Suneetha, faculty members, research scholars, and students were present.
