A young boy has been hospitalised after being ‘thrown from his bike’ in a hit-and-run road traffic collision in Kilkeel.

The PSNI is appealing for any person that may have witnessed the collision to get in touch.

The incident happened at approximately 2pm on Thursday, April 24, along the Newry Road.

It is reported that a young boy, while riding his bike with friends, was struck by a silver/grey car.

There are no details of the registration but the car was displaying ‘R’ plates and was reportedly driven by a female, who failed to stop.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The young boy was thrown from his bike and suffered injuries that required him to attend A&E.

“If you happened to be in the area and witnessed the collision, or think you may have dashcam footage, or have any other information that you feel could help us, please call police on 101, quoting reference 1022 – 24/04/25.”
