Sinn Féin councillor Taylor McGrann said he attended the same school as Ms McAdorey and knows her family.

“It’s absolutely tragic circumstances,” Cllr McGrann said.

“The whole community is in shock, and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the person involved.

“I grew up in the area, and she would be around the same age as myself. I would know her family, it’s just awful.

“Everyone is in complete shock; it’s not something you expect to happen in your community.

“It’s probably one of the quietest streets in the Greencastle area, there is a lot of elderly people live here, a lot of bungalows, people with disabilities, it’s quite quiet.”

What is happening now?

Police are still working to establish the cause of Ms McAdorey’s death.

DCI Phillips added: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.”
