While the long, sunny days of summer feel like a distant memory, autumn brings with it its own delights. Think magical misty mornings, shiny conkers and of course, colourful leaves.

For several weeks trees are transformed into every shade of yellow, orange, red and brown, creating a spectacular colour palette.

What makes it even more special is how each tree will change at different times, with some donning their autumn foliage in September while others will only begin to change in November, resulting in ever-changer scenery.

These autumn colours can be found in parks all across Greater Manchester. Alexandra Park in Oldham, Heaton Park in Prestwich and Chorlton Water Park are just a few of the locations with breathtaking displays.

Yet there’s a south-Manchester park which has perhaps some of the best colours in the city.

Cringle Park and Playing Fields in Levenshulme has been transformed into a scene of golden leaves, which appear to glow in the October sunshine.

The park may be small but it certainly parks a punch when it comes to autumn colours. Even Errwood Road which runs along the edge of the park looks particularly striking thanks to the trees which tower above it.

Stroll along the tree-lined path which runs parallel to the road and you’ll feel like you’re walking inside a golden tunnel.

Even the play fields are edged with beautiful autumnal displays, creating a colourful border for the green field.

Of course, no walk is complete without a visit to a café and Cringle Park is home to a rather unique food and drink spot. Grounded MCR opened in a 40ft shipping container in April this year, run by couple Kerry and Nat Lobel.

They launched Grounded MCR back in 2021, serving coffee and cake from a bright yellow trike. But this year the coffee spot gained a permanent home and one which has been welcomed by the local community.

With both indoor and outdoor seating, the café serves up a range of sandwiches, savoury and sweet bakes, as well as ‘picky plates’, along with drinks including freshly-ground coffee.

The spot also organises themed events and foodie nights, with the next one coming up on October 25 in time for Halloween.

Since its opening its received rave reviews. One visitor described it on Google as “the best” while another said:” The location is perfect for families and dog walkers.”

Grounded MCR is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
