The Welsh Government is seeking feedback from potential contractors and consultants on its planned £100m A483 Llandeilo and Ffairfach bypass, ahead of a formal procurement launch next year.

The scheme, part of the National Transport Delivery Plan published in February 2023, involves the construction of a new road to bypass Llandeilo and Ffairfach. A preferred route has already been identified by the Welsh Government.

The early market engagement process will inform the design of the project’s delivery and contracting models. It will include an in-person event on 27 October at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff, followed by a questionnaire inviting industry views on procurement strategy, climate change, commercial terms, project scope and barriers to bidding.

Interested organisations must register attendance or request the questionnaire by emailing A483LlandeiloandFfairfach@arcadis.com. Completed responses are due by midday on 10 November.

The works package, estimated at £100m excluding VAT, is expected to run from July 2026 to February 2031. The procurement, scheduled for publication in February 2026, will cover both multidisciplinary consultancy and construction contracts.

Depending on the outcome of this engagement, the Welsh Government may adjust its procurement approach before tendering begins.
