There’s no shortage of great sandwich shops in Greater Manchester. Pretty much every style you could dream up is accounted for, from footlong feasts to proper barms and buns.
It should be no surprise then that a number of the regions sandwich slingers have been named amongst the best in the UK. In fact, seven shops from across Greater Manchester have received the nod in a brand new ranking.
The 80 best sandwich shops in the UK have been ranked by Betway, using a combination of Google review ratings, Instagram hashtag volume, and annual search data.
Split into two sections – the 10 most popular in the UK and the top outside of London – to compile the list, Betway scoured Reddit threads and online articles to identify the sandwich shops most recommended by locals across the country.

Taking home the top two spots in the top 20 popular sandwich shops outside of the capital, Edinburgh eateries Alby’s and Mootz General took first and second prize respectively, while the bronze medal has been bestowed upon Bite Me Sandwich Bar in Glasgow.

Both cities has other entries in the top ten but here in Greater Manchester, the highest ranking spot was backstreet legends, Fat Pat’s in seventh place.
Tucked away down a Chinatown ginnel, Fat Pat’s has been serving up supreme subs since 2022 and has become a beloved addition to the Manchester food scene.
Despite a lower 4.2-star rating on Google, it has become a viral sensation, attracting nearly 400,000 annual Google searches and 1,992 posts on Instagram.

Their Philly Cheesesteak – which sells out daily is its North Star and comes out around £15 with a drink, while their hot honey fried chicken is also a thing of great beauty.
Earlier this year, the sub stars were named Best Takeaway at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards, but for a short while they mysteriously shut their city centre base with an announcement on social media announcing they were ‘closed until further notice’.
Fortunately they’re now back up and running, impressing Mancunians and sandwich lovers who travel all over to try their soft semolina milk rolls and delicious fillings.

Other Manchester spots that made the ranking include Ad Maiora, which landed in 11th and has impressed the city with its Schiacciata sandwiches, while Piqniq by famed Didsbury Village bakery La Chouquette came in 17th.
Also in Didsbury, Lapwing Deli took home the 25th spot, while the much-loved Northern Quarter haunt, Rustica, came in 27th.
It was 32nd position for Stockport’s finest, Rack, while Bada Bing in the Northern Quarter took the 41st spot and legendary lunch spot Katsouris Deli on Deansgate came in 42nd.
